ASHRAE/IIT/College of DuPage to Offer Healthy School Seminar - held December 2nd, 2004

Building Projects that Pay for Themselves

A series of Engineering for Building Excellence© seminars are being co-sponsored by ASHRAE, the Illinois Institute of Technology and the College of DuPage. The awareness and concern about the environment in which we learn and work has come front and center stage. This seminar will provide case studies to show how schools have solved ventilation problems and escalating energy usage at a price that makes sense. Mark Bishop of the Illinois Healthy School Campaign will give a legislative update for the state of Illinois. Fred Ringe of Energy Management Associates of Chicago will speak regarding the significant role ventilation plays in addressing air quality, mold, and comfort problems and how Ventilation Excellence© addresses energy bills and the high cost of absenteeism in existing facilities. Leon Shapiro of ADA Systems will review how hybrid mechanical systems are able to match the demand for comfort with outstanding energy savings never before possible in new construction projects. Creative financial options and sources being used to implement these solutions will be presented by Bill Price of IIT and Townsend Albright of the Illinois Finance Authority. The first of these seminars, to be given December 2nd at the College of DuPage, will focus on K-12 schools and junior colleges. The seminar will run from 8:30 AM till 3:00 PM. The investment is $85.00 in advance or $95.00 at the door. Refreshments and on-campus lunch will be served. Additional seminars for commercial, industrial, college, and real estate markets are being planned for 2005. Contact the Small Business Administration at COD, 630-942-3775
